Job Title: Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (VP, FP&A) – Oil & Gas
Type: Direct Hire

Salary Range: $180,000 – $240,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
Position Overview: Our client is looking for a highly skilled and strategic Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis to join their finance leadership team within the oil & gas sector. Reporting directly to the CFO, this pivotal role will encompass both strategic and traditional financial planning and analysis. The VP, FP&A will be essential in developing the company’s 5-year business strategic financial plan and preparing critical financial materials for the Board of Directors and investors, with a strong emphasis on the unique dynamics of the oil & gas industry, including adherence to relevant ASC standards.
Responsibilities:
Strategic and Traditional Financial Planning:
- Lead the development and execution of traditional financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis specific to oil & gas operations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to create and refine the company’s 5-year business strategic financial plan annually, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and compliance with ASC 932.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive strategic decision-making and support long-term growth in the oil & gas sector.
5-Year Business Strategic Financial Plan:
- Develop and manage the company’s 5-year strategic financial plan, including long-term revenue projections, expense management, and capital allocation tailored to oil & gas projects, adhering to ASC 360.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and corporate development to align financial planning with business strategy, project development, and market expansion efforts.
- Continuously assess and refine the strategic financial plan to reflect changes in market conditions, regulatory environment, and corporate objectives.
Board of Directors and Investor Materials Preparation:
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive financial materials and presentations for the Board of Directors and key investors, ensuring accuracy and clarity in accordance with GAAP and relevant industry standards.
- Collaborate with the SVP, FP&A, and executive leadership to deliver high-quality presentations that align with the company’s financial performance and strategic objectives.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of detailed financial analysis and reports to support business units and executive decision-making within the oil & gas context.
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance, investment opportunities, and strategic initiatives specific to the sector, including compliance with ASC 605 and ASC 842.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while continuously improving processes and systems in line with regulatory requirements.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Lead and mentor a finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations for the team, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 12-15+ years of professional experience, focusing on financial planning and analysis with a strong background in strategic financial planning and corporate finance, particularly in the oil & gas industry.
- Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role within a high-growth oil & gas company.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage ambiguity and operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of consistently driving results and exceeding goals in a dynamic industry.
- Expertise in developing and managing long-term strategic financial plans specific to oil & gas operations.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, analysis, and reporting relevant to the sector.
- Experience preparing and managing financial materials for a Board of Directors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams to achieve common goals.
