Senior Mechanical Project Manager – Data Center Construction

Salary: $140,000-$180,000K
Innovar Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead complex mechanical construction scopes for major data center and mission-critical projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on project leader with deep experience managing mechanical systems, field execution, financial performance, and customer delivery in high-demand environments.
What You'll Do
- Lead mechanical construction projects from preconstruction and planning through commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
- Own project budgets, forecasts, schedules, procurement, subcontractor coordination, change orders, and overall project performance.
- Coordinate field teams, superintendents, vendors, engineers, customers, and internal leadership to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
- Manage mechanical scopes that may include HVAC, chilled-water systems, piping, plumbing, hydronics, controls, and other critical infrastructure.
- Review drawings, specifications, takeoffs, project risks, and constructability concerns; develop solutions before they impact cost or schedule.
- Track project progress, quality, safety, labor needs, materials, and key milestones across multiple active projects.
- Maintain clear client communication and provide accurate reporting, documentation, financial updates, and project records.
- Lead project closeout, including punch-list completion, commissioning support, turnover documentation, and final billing.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of project-management experience in mechanical construction, preferably supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, large industrial projects, healthcare, semiconductor, manufacturing, or similarly complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems, construction sequencing, codes, and quality standards.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, vendors, change orders, and client expectations.
- Experience leading projects in an active field environment with a strong commitment to jobsite safety.
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage several priorities without losing sight of cost, schedule, and quality.
- Comfortable being on site most of the time and traveling as project needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA and/or other relevant safety certifications.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Accubid, Primavera P6, or comparable construction-management tools.
- Prior data center mechanical construction experience, including critical cooling or process-piping systems.
