Innovar Group is hiring a strategic Regional Directors of Planning & Controls for a growing national construction organization. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who can connect executive strategy to strong field execution—creating consistency, financial predictability, and operational discipline across a regional portfolio of complex construction projects.
The Regional Director will lead planning and project-controls functions, develop a high-performing team, and partner closely with operations, finance, quality, procurement, HR, and regional leadership. Expect approximately 30–50% travel initially as the regional teams are built.
What You'll Do
- Lead and standardize planning, controls, and project-governance practices across multiple projects and teams.
- Serve as the bridge between regional leadership and project/field operations, helping teams turn strategy into consistent execution.
- Conduct milestone reviews, project audits, and progress meetings throughout the project lifecycle—from kickoff and pre-job planning through closeout.
- Review cost forecasts, productivity data, labor performance, budgets, and project-planning metrics to identify risks and opportunities early.
- Improve forecast accuracy, operational efficiency, data quality, and accountability across the regional portfolio.
- Partner with regional executives and functional leaders to communicate project status, financial performance, and key decisions.
- Hire, coach, and develop a team of Project Controls Managers, Planning Managers, and administrative support professionals.
- Champion process, system, and organizational change while ensuring teams are trained on required planning and controls practices.
What You Bring
- 10–15+ years of experience in project controls, planning, construction management, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years in a regional, multi-project, or senior leadership capacity.
- Broad construction experience across project-based environments; candidates should bring a well-rounded background rather than experience limited to one construction segment.
- Proven experience leading and developing a small team, ideally with 2–5 direct reports.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to assess forecasts, productivity trends, cost performance, and project risks.
- Experience with enterprise construction/project-management systems; Vista and Procure experience is strongly preferred.
- A collaborative, ethical, positive leadership style with excellent communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- PMP or MBA is a plus.
