Mark currently serves on several technology arena and adjunct company Boards supporting executive leadership, merger-acquisition, and integration activities. Mark is also a technical / business executive consultant to the Air Force on major space and fighter weapons systems. Mark served as Executive Vice President of Operations of SunGard Availability Services, Inc. where he operated a $1.8B disaster recovery and managed services entity. He led the acquisition and integration of the $100M VeriCenter Hosting operation. He joined SunGard Availability Services executive management team in January 2005 as the result of the acquisition of Inflow, where he led the financial and human resources operations as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Hughes was a primary architect of the SunGard / Inflow transaction. Prior to his CFO role, he served as Inflow's Vice President of Finance and Business Operations where he led investor reporting, financial planning and strategic relationships/negotiations.
He began at Inflow in October of 2000, as Vice President of Corporate Operations leading all aspects of the build out and outfitting of Inflow's data centers. Prior to Inflow, he served 24 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Colonel. In his last military position, he was the principal personal advisor to the Under Secretary of the Air Force. Previously, he provided leadership and operational expertise at various command levels, initially as a tactical and training aircraft instructor pilot, academic instructor and flight examiner and later leading the development and acquisition of our nation's most advanced aircraft and satellite systems. He holds a bachelor degree from U.S. Air Force Academy, master's degree in Management Science from University of Dayton, and a master's degree in National Security Strategy, concentrating on Information Warfare and Strategy from the National War College.
