BI/Data Analyst

Job Description:
As a BI/Data Analyst, you will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to support our organization’s strategic initiatives and operational needs. Leveraging your SQL development skills and familiarity with data warehousing concepts, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data solutions, generate actionable reports, and develop impactful visualizations. Your analytical skills will be crucial in uncovering patterns, trends, and opportunities that contribute to the company’s growth and success.

Location:
This is a remote position with occasional visits to our office in the Denver CO area (no more than twice a month). Applicants must be based in the Colorado area.

Responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Insights:

  • Retrieve, transform, and analyze large datasets using SQL queries to extract valuable business insights.
  • Supports critical data and analytics systems (alerts, clinical decision support, EDW, dashboard, ETLs, BI tools, etc.).
  • Identify and interpret trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to make informed decisions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure data solutions align with organizational goals.

Data Visualization and Reporting:

  • Create visually engaging dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc analyses to present data-driven insights to key stakeholders.
  • Utilize data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar) to communicate complex information effectively.

Data Warehouse Management:

  • Leverage your expertise in data warehousing concepts to optimize data storage, retrieval, and maintenance processes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to ensure smooth data flow from various sources to the data warehouse.

Quality Assurance:

  • Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of data.
  • Identify data inconsistencies and work with the team to rectify data-related issues.

Data Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with data engineering, business intelligence, and other cross-functional teams to achieve data-related goals.
  • Contribute actively in team meetings, sharing insights, and supporting colleagues to foster a collaborative and innovative environment.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in BI and data analytics.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance data analysis efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as a BI/Data Analyst with a focus on SQL development and data warehousing in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in SQL querying and data manipulation to extract and transform data effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SSRS, and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, including ETL processes, data modeling, and data architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
